Homeowners should have their roof inspected at least once a year and after a heavy storm to avoid any serious damage to their roof and home. If a roof is inspected on a regular basis then minor problems can be repaired before they become serious and expensive problems. The more care a person provides their roof, the longer it will last, which means avoiding the cost of having a roof replaced before its time.
The four tips a roof may need repairing or replacing are as follows:
1. The shingles are curling.
If a homeowner looks at their roof and sees the shingles curling then this could mean a serious problem including a leak. If a leak is not dealt with straight away then it can cause serious problems for the structure of the property as well as health issues.
2. The roof shingles are cracked
If the shingles on the roof are cracked then this could be down to wind damage. If a few shingles are missing here and there then they can be replaced. However, if there are shingles missing on different parts of the roof then this could be a sign that the roof needs replacing.
3. Gaps in Roof – Or sunlight in the loft
If a homeowner can see a gap in their roof or they can sunlight coming through the roof in their loft then this is a serious problem. If sunlight can come through the roof then that means rain can come through, which will cause major problems to the home including a leak.
4. The roof is sagging
If the roof is sagging then this means there is a structural issue. This will require immediate attention.
